Applications Open for the 2026 Young Theatre Festival in Bale

From September 20 to 26, 2026, Bale will host the ninth edition of the international Young Theatre Festival, centred around this year's theme, "The Art of Play and Emotion." The festival brings together artists, students, psychologists, creative therapists, educators, and professionals from various fields through workshops, lectures, and professional exchanges.

Among this year's mentors are award-winning actress Selma Alispahić, renowned British dramatherapist Anna Seymour, Canadian actor Filip Geljo, known for his role in the Avatar film series, and actor, director, and professor András Hatházi.

The programme is designed for students, professionals, and anyone interested in theatre, performing arts, psychology, and creative therapies. Participants can choose from workshops in improvisation, screen acting, dramatherapy, art therapy, working with children and young people, social-emotional learning, movement, and creative expression.

A special part of the programme is dedicated to children and families, while the festival also offers individual psychological and nutritional counselling sessions.

The Young Theatre Festival is organised by the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, the University of Split, the Municipality of Bale-Valle, the Bale-Valle Tourist Board, and Mon Perin d.d.
