“Woman of the Anthem” at Fort Forno – Award-Winning Drama under the Stars
This Saturday, the historic Fort Forno becomes the open-air stage for “Woman of the Anthem”, a powerful theatrical production by playwright Davor Špišić, directed by Robert Raponja.
The play portrays the life of Paula Preradović, author of the Austrian national anthem and granddaughter of Croatian poet Petar Preradović. Raised in Pula, Paula lived between cultures, languages, and ideologies – a life brought to the stage with emotional depth and artistic brilliance.
“Woman of the Anthem” is a collaboration between Teatar Fort Forno, Istrian National Theatre – City Theatre Pula, Croatian National Theatre Mostar, and Association Intermezzo Sarajevo, with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum. The play received the prestigious Marin Držić Award for best contemporary play from the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media in 2022.
