Bembo Fest 2026 in Bale: Theatre, Music and Art Under the Stars

From 25 June to 3 September, Bale once again becomes the stage for one of the most distinctive summer cultural events in Istria. Organised by Teatar Fort Forno, Bembo Fest has for six years brought together outstanding theatre artists, musicians and audiences eager for high-quality cultural experiences in the unique setting of Bale’s squares, streets and the Fort Forno fortress.
Through its productions, collaborations and festivals, Teatar Fort Forno has long enriched the cultural life of Bale, creating a meeting place for artists and audiences while promoting theatre arts in an authentic Istrian environment. Bembo Fest has become one of its most recognisable projects and an essential part of summer in Bale.
The programme features comedies, drama performances, musical-theatrical projects, concerts, poetry evenings and exhibitions. Visitors can expect guest appearances from numerous theatres from Croatia and abroad, as well as productions by Teatar Fort Forno, including the premiere of “Life Is Beautiful / La vita è bella” and performances of “One Beautiful Night in Bale”.
Special treats are also prepared for the youngest visitors. As part of Mali Bembo, this summer’s programme includes the children’s performances “Cvilidreta”, “The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle”, “What Is Grandpa For?”, “Fables Made Clear”, “The Three Little Pigs” and “Thumbelina”. Through play, humour and imaginative stories, Mali Bembo will once again bring the magic of theatre closer to young audiences and create unforgettable moments for the whole family.
