Exhibition “Source of Life: Cistern Rims in Bale” at MMC Ulika

Photography exhibition about the cisterns of Bale. Author: Luka Jereb.

The exhibition “Source of Life”, dedicated to the traditional cisterns of Bale and their importance in Istrian heritage and everyday life, is now open at the Multimedia Centre Ulika.

Through photographs and documentation, the author of the exhibition, Luka Jereb, presents a story about life in Istria in the past, when water collection and rainwater harvesting were essential for everyday living. Special attention is given to the cisterns of Bale and their stone rims, which still stand as witnesses to the way of life and the importance of water in earlier times.

Luka Jereb, B.Sc. Engineer, devoted his retirement years to researching and documenting Istrian heritage, creating numerous exhibitions focused on history, stone inscriptions and traditional Istrian cisterns.
